If there was ever any doubt that John McCain’s selection of wingnut Governor Sarah Palin to be his second was nothing more than a political
stunt to secure the support of his base, no further proof is necessary
than this clip of Palin being interviewed by Katie Couric.
Further comment isn’t even necessary. Just watch in horror.
Absolutely pathetic. Why isn’t the MSM hammering home the question
of John McCain’s lousy judgement in selecting this dolt.
We’re no particular fan of CNN’s Campbell Brown, she makes us
miss the unmissable Paula Zahn. But Brown’s verbal beatdown of
Tucker Bounds, a McCain campaign spokesperson, over Sarah Palin’s
lack of qualifications for the nation’s second highest office was
an eye-opener.
Campbell Brown really seemed put-off by this guy’s determination
to gloss over her question and to avoid explaining the inherent
hypocrisy of the McCain’ camps acceptance of Palin’s light resume,
and rejection of Barack Obama’s qualifications to be Commander
in Chief.
In fact, Brown so exposed this mealy-mouthed loser that John McCain
cancelled an appearance on “Larry King Live” that was scheduled
for last night.
Punishment for CNN?
The truth hurts, and the McCain campaign can’t handle the truth.
The edges remain frayed around John McCain’s strange VP
pick, the nationally-unknown Sarah Palin.
Who?
Right.. Heh. Heh. Heh.
Here’s a piece of video from last week when CNN’s Jack Cafferty
already had the situation summed up. Even before news about
Palin’s very pregnant 17 year old daughter.
Does this mean Palin’s not a good strict family values mother?
Probably. “They” don’t teach their children about sex.
What’s that you say about families being off-limits?
Tell that to Michelle Obama. At least Michelle never belonged
to any political party that wanted a state to seceed from the
Union.
Palin’s an old hand at that. Reference the Alaska Independence
Party.
But first, check out the Cafferty video and enjoy.
Massachusetts Senator John Kerry did himself good last night
at the DNC. Although, the nominee from four years ago, he
was not the featured speaker on a night that was to spotlight Bill Clinton and VP nominee Joe Biden.
Regardless of his new status, John Kerry delivered a rousing
put-down of John McCain, the Republican party and conservative
politics in general.
This was not the overly cautious John Kerry of 2004. Perhaps
he’s had time to reflect on his mild-mannered response to the
unjust Swift Boat attacts that questioned his character and his
patriotism.
Kerry seems to have lingered for four long years in that place
on the schoolyard, where a taunting bully gets in a good verbal
shot, and then walks smugly away having scored a zinger.
Only later, does the victim of the taunt come up with the perfect
response.
How many of us in adult life, even, have come across such a
similiar situation where the comeback is bit too late?
John Kerry finally got his second chance. It may have been
four long years in arriving, but last night he stood on two firm
feet.
Last night, Senator John Kerry punched like a an angry heavyweight
with something to prove.
As a rationalist, atheist, non-believer, I found the Rick Warren
faith-fest last Saturday night, a cringe inducing irrelevancy.
The questions were delivered with such saccharine sweetnesss
they would have turned the most toxic office brew into Starbuck’s
finest. The answers, as well, by both Barack Obama and John
McCain were spoken in earnest tones that were nausea inducing.
It truly amazes me how anyone could find anything relevatory
in all of this “faith” nonsense.
What in the world does “faith” have to do with the war in Iraq,
or gasoline at almost four dollars a gallon?
So what next? Are Obama and McCain going to sit down in some
staid university lecture hall and be questioned by some of the
world’s leading theoretical physicists, so that they can answer
many of the same questions Warren asked, but in surroundings
free of the trappings of religious mythology?
Of course, not. Who cares what some stuffy old scientists think
about anything.
Right?
I know one truth. It will be a long time before this country elects
a rationalist, atheiest, nonbeliever as President. Or even comes
close.
That’s why Saturday night was not such a beautiful thing after all.
Earlier this year, Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos
of ABC News were the moderators of a debate featuring Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, that became known as
the “gotcha” debate.
The “gotcha” part referring mostly to Barack Obama because
he was the target of some of the more memorable obnoxious
questioning by messiers Gibson and Stephanopoulos.
Well apparently ABC has done got, got.
The American Broadcasting Company did not receive an
invite to moderate any of the upcoming presidential debates or
the vice presidential debate. The winners being Jim Lehrer
of PBS, Tom Brokaw of NBC, Bob Schieffer of CBS, and Gwen Ifill of PBS.
Maybe now Gibson and Stephanopoulos realize that their
tactics in trying to show-up Barack Obama on national television
has resulted in some dire consequences for a network that
wants to be regarded as one of the nation’s leading television
news organizations.
Those two scared even McCain’s people apparently. Why
else then the complete shut out?
NOT GOOD.
Now the next obvious question is where is Katie Couric in
this equation? She’s been totally absent on the big stage
this entire political season. And who’s that still saying that
her hire hasn’t been a complete disaster for CBS?
Now that Barack Obama has returned from his smash world
tour, the harsh criticism he has received in the press from
a fair number of media pundits has highlighted the one
significant problem in this political season, he may NEVER
find an answer for.
Barack Obama is an easy target for haters.
Check out some of the labels he has been smeared with over
the last few months.
1.) he isn’t black enough [a smear by fellow blacks] 2.) he’s too black [a smear by whites] 3.) he’s arrogant [code for he's uppity or an elitist] 4.) he’s secretly a muslim [code meaning he's not one
of us and thus, can't be trusted] 5.) he’s too inexperienced [see label no. 3]
Not only does Barack Obama have to walk a fine line out
there in the wold of politics, he needs the moves of a
top-shelf NFL running back in order to avoid the destructive
effects of these labels.
Code words do have a real meaning for people, and they
tend to stick.
This presidential race is likely to remain close all the way
up to election day, and it is not unlikely that McCain in some
national polls may actually pull ahead.
If by the end of the coming Summer Olympics in China,
and Barack Obama finds himself in a statistical dead heat,
he may have to go ALL OUT to rally the democratic base,
even to the extent of placing a hot potato like Hillary Clinton
on the ticket, if by that time he hasn’t already chosen a
running mate.
The candidate of change may have to for a time become
the ultimate of political pragmatists. He has to do what he
must in order to get himself elected. Because those who
oppose him will stop at nothing to destroy his candidacy.
I’m not a fan of auto racing, in any manner whatsoever.
There is nothing I’d rather NOT do than watch a bunch
of cars drive around in a circle for three hours, or carve
up a racinig course, even though I love driving my own
personal automobile.
Televised racing just doesn’t cut it for me.
One of the ongoing themes this summer seems to be IRL
driver Danica Patrick taking off after someone following
an alleged incident on a race track. The latest being her
in the face confrontaton with little known, fellow female
driver Milka Duno.
Which leads to one obvious question. Why is it we only
see Danica Patrick in these incidents in front of the camera?
One after the other?
Is she the only driver in this particular racing league
who is being wronged out on the track? Does she feel
she isn’t getting any respect, and has to prove how tough
she is, over and over, again?
Right or wrong, Danica needs to rethink what she’s
doing. The public may be on her side, right now. But,
she’s giving herself a reputation, that can just as easily
one day be turned against her.
It is far more sensible to confront another driver AFTER
THE RACE in the garage area somewhere, and away from
the prying eyes of television.
Perhaps, even after tempers have cooled, and a more
beneficial conversation can be had.
In other words, Danica needs to stop showing people up
in the heat of the moment, now matter how in the right
she thinks she is. Or one of these days she’s gonna end
up embarrassed and humiliated.
Okay, it’s been a couple of days now since Jesse Jackson
made his ugly comment about what he wanted to do to Barack Obama’s anatomy. Jokes, aside, it is just as easy
to over-analyze the entire incident.
Forget the politics about the whole faith-based initiative
deal and what it might mean to the black community.
What we have here folks is a jealous, increasingly irrelevant,
aging civil rights icon, dissing the young pretty boy who
he believes is a bit of an elitist.
Yeah, that’s right, Jesse Jackson, insinuated that deep
down inside Barack Obama thinks he’s made of a better
cloth then just ordinary black folks.
But what it looks like from here, Jesse Jackson is just plain
hating on Barack Obama.
He doesn’t like the guy. The fact that Barack Obama has
accomplished much more than the entire old civil rights
vanguard ever thought that he could, or even had the right
to try, is the cause for Jackson’s indignant attitude toward
the man.
Call it what it is….

In the unlikely event you haven’t had enough of Jackson’s
hate, take another look.
The JonBenet case was a horror, and along with
the cases of other missing white females, was played
for all it was worth by the cable news networks.
Of course, JonBenet didn’t go missing. The six-year
old blonde was brutally murdered in her home, and
the Denver PD, along with the talking heads all over
cable were more than happy to point an accusatory
finger at the Ramsey’s and Mama Ramsey in particular,
the now deceased Patsy Ramsey.
A unique analytical process called “touch DNA” that
uses actual skin cells left via a simple touch of a finger
at a crime scene - for example - now point without
question to an unknown male intruder as Jon Benet’s
killer.
Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy released
part of the contents of a letter she had sent to Patrick
Ramsey, the girl’s father that read in part.
“To the extent that we may have contributed in any
way to the public perception that you might have
been involved in this crime, I am deeply sorry.”
After ten long years, conciliatory words are indeed
a consolation, but they are hardly full-payment for the
nightmare the Ramsey’s were put through by an incompetent Boulder Colorado police department, and a culpable
mainstream media that has long since forgotten its role
in the dirtying-up of the Ramsey family name.
